About Yogyakarta: Ramayana Ballet

The ballet presented by more than 200 artists at the Open Theater (Outdoor) and 50 artists at Trimurti Theater (indoor). The calendar events for the year 2012 are as follows:

Ticket for both theaters: VIP Rp300.000,00 (only for outdoor theater – 64 seats), class I Rp150.000,00 (268 seats for outdoor theater and 118 seats for indoor theater), Rp100.000,00 (640 seats for outdoor theater and 160 seats for indoor theater)

The Synopsis of Ramayana Ballet
Ramayana Ballet started from the competition in order to find the right man to mary Dewi Shinta. Rama Wijaya as the Prince of Ayodya at last wins it. After winning the competition Rama dan Shinta accompanied by Leksmana have their wander in Dandaka Forest.
In Dandaka Forest, Shinta is kidnapped by Rahwana and taken to Alengka Kingdom. Shocked by the bad news, Rama eagerly insists get her back. He asks the monkey troops led by Hanoman to build a bridge to rescue Shinta from Alengka. The great battle between monkey troops and the giants of Alengka occurs afterwards.
The story ends with the death of Rahwana by Rama’s magic arrow. Then, Rama meets Shinta again. Yet Rama refuses Shinta since he considers that Shinta is not pure anymore. In order to prove her purity and loyalty to her husband, Shinta then burns herself. Shina is safe from the burning fire and that is a proof to her husband that Shinta is still sacred. Finally Rama comes to her and they are reunited.
